Unleashing PAWtential: Jobs for Challenged Worker Adding to the American Workforce

North Salem, N.Y. (August 27, 2014) – Labor Day – an American holiday honoring workers, past, present and future. That’s exactly what the new, New York-based, dog treat company Good Reasons™ is doing each and every day – creating jobs, honoring workers and growing the American economy with treats for America’s favorite pet – dogs!

So what makes us different? Good Reasons’ number one goal is to create an integrated workplace that supports and values each of their employee’s unique ability to contribute to their work and mission. We have employees with both physical and cognitive challenges but recognize that while everyone has something to learn, more so, they have something to contribute. In turn, success at work creates success in their personal lives—building confidence, independence and smiles – lots of smiles!

How it works: Our dog treats are produced locally. Packaging, quality review and distribution also occurs right here in the Hudson Valley. The entire production process of Good Reasons’ line of dog treats, from baking to packaging to shipping supports the not for profit’s integrated workforce or the programs of its parent company Community Based Services, Inc. – a company that provides services and supports to people with autism and other developmental disabilities.

_MG_1563We project within the first 12 months of creation we will employ more than 25 people. That’s 25 NEW American jobs – jobs that were not here last year. And equally as important we are employing a population that might otherwise be considered unemployable. Employees with physical and mental challenges, yet valuable skills, make a difference in their lives and in their community.

Labor Day 2014 is a perfect time for you to come visit us at Good Reasons™ (www.GoodReasons.com) and see how we are making a difference in the labor force as well as the lives of people living with disabilities.

We look forward to showing you our model, our successes and providing you with your own homemade dog treat sample to try on your favorite pooch.  Not only are the treats making a difference in the economy, they are also delicious our canine taste testers have told us!
