Local retailers support job opportunities for disabled
By Bonnie Soto, Poughkeepsie Journal — Adams Fairacre Farms has begun to sell dog treats that are manufactured by a company that provides opportunity and employment for people with autism and other disabilities.
Good Reasons, a social enterprise of Westchester-based social services provider Community Based Services, Inc., is a non-profit dog-treat company that provides work, socialization, cultivation of new skills, and a sense of independence and community to people who are disabled.
“We want to thank Adams for putting us on their shelves and really, on the map in this area. They’re helping us grow our customer base and aiding our mission to provide more jobs to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities state wide,” said Vicki Sylvester, founder and CEO of Good Reasons.
