New Dog Treat Line In Support of the Disabled Helps Drive Mission of DCSPCA 20th Annual Paws in the Park Petwalk and Canine Carnival
North Salem N.Y. (September 17, 2014) – Come one, come all – both people and those with paws! Join Good Reasons™ and Adams Fairacre Farms as they support the 20th Annual Paws in the Park Petwalk and Canine Carnival, hosted by the Dutchess County SPCA, this Saturday, September 20 from 11:00am to 3:00pm at Bowdoin Park in Poughkeepsie.
A fundraiser for the homeless animals of the Dutchess County SPCA, the event first began in 1994 as a way to raise funds for the shelter, while educating the public about the plight of the homeless and abused animals. The newest, New York-based social enterprise, Good Reasons™, learned of the event through their latest retailer, Adams Fairacre Farms – a longtime supporter of the DCSPCA. Good Reasons™ is a dog treat company on a mission. Our scrumptious, all natural dog treats are sure to please your dog’s palate, but here at Good Reasons™ we go beyond the biscuit. We created a company that provides employment for people with autism and other disabilities in an integrated work environment. Unleashing love and potential in every bite. Founder of Good Reasons™, Vicki Sylvester, Ph.D. took quick recognition of the organization – similarly, advocates for those who cannot advocate for themselves. The opportunity to lend a helping hand seemed, well…as ‘good a reason as any!’
“Our line of human-grade dog treats have done extremely well in the few months since our product launch,” explains Sylvester. With three uniquely creative treat flavors available in 14 retail locations across the tri-state area as well as online at goodreasons.com/treat-shop/, the non-profit officially launched in July of 2014. “Our mission is everything. It is our driving force; it is the reason for our existence. We want to help spread the mission of others, too, especially in our local area.”
Good Reasons™, along with Adams Fairacre Farms, will be in attendance as a vendor this Saturday at Bowdoin Park. Look for our booth for more information on how you can become involved in providing job opportunities for those with disabilities, and bring along your dog for some Good Reasons™ treats of their own. The fulfilled day will include contests such as Kanine, Karaoke, Owner/Dog Look-A-Like, and Best Beggar, to name a few. Enjoy demonstrations from Pawstars, (a nationally recognized entertainment and training team) grooming and nail trimming, microchips, and a vet to answer all of your pet care questions.
