Good Reasons is Tickled Pink
Dog treat company and local retailer on a mission to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month
North Salem, NY (October 2, 2014) – Every October, companies across the nation go pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The annual campaign aims to raise awareness of its prevalence, cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. It also offers hope, information, and support to those affected by the disease. This year, Good Reasons™ and Adams Fairacre Farms are supporting Miles of Hope, a Breast Cancer Foundation serving the Hudson Valley.
Good Reasons™ is a dog treat company committed to hiring individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Receiving a tremendous amount of support since the company’s launch in July of 2014, CEO and owner, Vicki Sylvester, Ph.D. was inspired to help other organizations in supporting their mission. Bella’s Barkery Bone, the dog treat company’s staple vegetarian classic, features an electric pink packaging that pairs perfectly with the “pink for October” initiative countrywide. All month long, Good Reasons™ and Adams Fairacre Farms will each donate $0.50 for every bag of Bella’s Barkery Bone that is sold. You can find the treats at any of the four Adams locations (Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Kingston, Wappinger), as well as online at www.goodreasons.com/treat-shop/.
“We thought it would be a great idea to donate a portion of the sales from Bella’s Barkery Bone treats to Miles of Hope. We are all for helping out in the same way so many have helped the Good Reasons™ cause – especially in our local area,” says Sylvester.
Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation is a non-profit that was established in March of 2004 to help fund support services for people affected by breast cancer in the eight Hudson Valley counties from Columbia County to Westchester County. Dana Effron and Cathy Varunok, two active members of the community that turned their attention to breast cancer research after knowing someone or personally being affected by the disease, established the Foundation. The two started out advocating nationwide with large organizations, but wanted to concentrate their efforts more locally after discovering the type of support needed in the Hudson Valley was not available.
Miles of Hope raises money through various events, partnerships, and generous donations. All money raised helps fund breast cancer education courses; support programs, and provides financial aid for social support and ancillary services.
